At approximately 10:54 hours, Box Alarm 6-1 was dispatched for a house fire just across from the
Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company on N. Church Street. 2nd Assistant Chief 604 arrived first on scene, reporting smoke showing and establishing command.
Units arrived to find heavy smoke conditions, with smoke showing from the first floor of a two-story, wood-frame residence. It was reported that several beloved pets were still inside.
Firefighters quickly went to work, initiating a primary search as suppression efforts began. As fire conditions intensified, crews transitioned to a Vent, Enter, Search (VES) operation on the second floor.

Thanks to the quick actions and coordination of responding crews, three dogs and one rabbit were successfully rescued from the home. Despite the heavy smoke conditions, all animals were removed safely and were uninjured. They were cared for by compassionate neighbors until Queen Anne’s County Animal Control personnel and the homeowner arrived.
Crews continued with ventilation and overhaul operations, while a Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) was established to support firefighter safety.
Power was secured within the home as crews worked to bring the fire under control through the coordinated efforts of all responding companies.

Additional photos from this incident will be added once appropriate images are available.
