Update on Past Chief Faust

Oct 4: Past Chief Faust emailed home and advised us he was doing fine and that the weather was very hot  where he is at 110-115 degrees every day. He has been working 12 to 14 hour shifts for the past several days. and hopes to have a day to relax soon.

  Supporting our Troops

Oct 4: In a effort to support Mally and the group he is with we will be posting a list of Items that are needed  for care packages to send. Please check back soon for the list. If you wish to make a monetary contribution for phone cards please mail check to SVFC PO box 61 Sudlersville, MD. 21668. Attention Kurt Wise. Please make checks out to Sudlersville Vol Fire Company. A 2 hour phone card gives him a total of 15 mins of talk time with his family.

Brush Fire 6-2 Box

Oct 13: At 16:58 Hrs Station 6 and Station 5 were alerted for a brush Fire on Route 302 in the area of Dixon Tavern Road. 609 (K. Wise) Arrived with small grass fire extending into the woods and established Route 302 command. Command placed the box under control holding all station 6 units at 17:12 Hrs. Sta 6 units operated for approximately 30 min with a total staffing of 17 Personnel. Units on the box Brush 6, T-6, E-61, Brush 5, and E-51.

Brush Fire 6-5 Box

Oct 13: 17:18 As station 6 units were getting ready to return to the station Queen Anne's Contact 302 Command advised there just received a report of another brush fire on Route 302 in the area of Busic Church Road. Station 6 cleared the 6-2 call and made a response to the 2nd brush fire. After investigating the area Tanker 6 placed the box in service. Sta 6 units operated for approximately 15 min with a total staffing of 17 Personnel. Units on the box Brush 6, T-6, E-61, and Brush 5,

Mike Hines Dance at Sudlersville

Oct 13: The Mike Hines dance was a complete SELL OUT! this by far was the largest turn out for a dance SVFC has seen in years. Mike Hines and his band provide a high energy professional performance with a mix of Music from years ago and music of today. A Special Thanks goes to Queenstown Bank, Hunters Oak Golf Club, Harris Crab House Inc., Peoples Bank of Kent Co., Southern States Petroleum, Doc Riverside Grill, And Annie's Paramount Steak & Seafood House. SVFC Dance Committee are looking to book Mike Hines twice in 2008. Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company apologizes for having to turn people away at the door who did not purchase tickets in advance.

   


Fly out  6-1 Box

Oct 14: 15:59 Sta 6 was alerted for a unconscious 8 month old at station 6. After a the PT. was evaluated by QA PM 600 Aviation was requested. Officer 608 (R. Nicholson) Assumed CMD and establishes the L/Z on the school field behind the firehouse. The Pt was transported to Hopkins by Trooper 6. Sta 6 units operated for approximately 30 min with a total staffing of 12 Personnel. Units on the call A-60, E-64, C-6, PM 600, and Trooper 6.
 
Transfer to Marydel
Oct 15:14:46 Hrs Station 6 was alerted for E-64 to transfer to Kent Co. DE. Station 56 (Marydel). Station 56 had a working trailer fire at Walkers Trailer Park. Sta 6 units operated for approximately 2 hours with a total staffing of 6 Personnel.

Dwelling Fire 7-10 Box

Oct 27: 20:26 Hrs Station 6 was alerted to assist station 7 for a dwelling fire on Red Lion Branch Road. Officer 701 arrived with a 2 story wood frame dwelling with heavy fire on alpha /Bravo side of the dwelling and assumed command. After the arrival of  the first 2 unit Command requested 2nd alarm and "All Hands". Quint 6 arrived command evacuated the building due to the roof collapsing and had Quint-6 set up on the Alpha/Bravo side of the dwelling and placed the master stream in service and a hand line to the rear of the dwelling. Sta 6 units operated for approximately 2 hours with a total staffing of 22 Personnel. Units on the box other then station 7 units E-64, T-6, Q-6, R-6, U-6, PM 60, Tanker 5, and PM 800. Kent Co MD. T-6, E-6-7, Truck 6, Tanker 2 E-23, Rescue 2, units from Galena QA & Kent Co. Sheriffs for traffic control, Choptank Electric, and the Fire Marshall. Special thanks to Station 5 for transferring to our station to cover our area.

Assist with a Dwelling Fire Kent Co DE. STA 51 Hartley

Oct 27: 22:15 Station 6 was alerted to assist Kent County Station 51 (Hartley) with a dwelling fire on Lion Hope Rd. Engine 51 responded from our station, However they were canceled by command at 22:25. E-51 returned to Station 6 till our units cleared the 7-10 Box.
Annual Fit Testing
Oct 30:Tuesday nights drill was fun filled with our annual fit testing. For the ones that missed tonight's fit test a make-up test will be rescheduled later in November. Reminder that the next drill November 9th will be a annual review of proper handling and maintenance of our Scott air packs. This drill will be conducted by representatives from Scott. Attending this drill will count as a air mask drill.
