Rescue Box 6-1

June 1: Station 6 and Paramedic 600 were dispatch to the 6-1 box at 19:03 hrs. for a MVC at the intersection of Sudlersville Rd. and Duhamel Corner Rd.  Chief 6 (F. Kinnamon) arrived and assumed command and advise he has a 2 vehicle MVC with 1 pt. out of the car on the road way. Paramedic 600 evaluated the pt and R/Q aviation. CMD R/Q 2nd transport unit for a 2nd pt. AMB 5 attended to the 2nd pt who refused treatment. Engine 64 and Officer 607 (G. Johnston) handled the L/Z . Units on the box included C-6, R-6, E-64, AMB 6, AMB 5 Paramedic 600 & 800. units operated on scene for 1 hour with 27 personnel. Trooper 6 transported 1 pt to Shock Trauma


Medical Assist

June 1: As Ambulance 60 clear the MVC they were advise by dispatch to respond to Corkells Grocery and Deli for an unresponsive person. Engine 64 added their self to the box under the direction of officer 607 (G. Johnston). Engine 64's crew assisted EMS With pt care. Paramedic 60 transported one pt to Chester River Hospital. Units operate on scene for 20 min with 10 personnel.

Annual Spring Pit Beef/Chicken BBQ Dinner

June 2:SVFC held it's Annual Spring Pit Beef/Chicken BBQ Dinner today. The day started out with a fine mist of rain and by the end of the day turned into a down pour with  heavy gusts of wind. We moved our work station out of the weather into Chief Kinnamon's enclosed trailer. SVFC would like to thank the community, race fans, and Southern States for supporting this fund raising event. Our next Chicken BBQ and Pit Beef Dinner will be held September 23, 2007

Rescue Box 6-1

June 4: Local rescue box 6-1 was dispatched for a MVC in the area of 119 East Main St. Officer 604 (B. Clough) assumed CMD of a 3 vehicle MVC with minor injuries. Crews from Rescue 6 and Engine 64 provided traffic control. A high volume of traffic was due to the completion of the race at Dover International Speedway. Paramedic 600 and AMB 60 handled the pt. refusals. Units on the box R-6, E-64, A-60, and PM 600. Units operated on scene for 45 mins with 15 personnel.

 Brush Truck

June 5: Earlier this year President Faust appointed a brush truck committee to work towards replacing our current brush unit by the end of 2007. We recently took delivery of a 2007 Chevy 3500 crew cab long bed work truck. This unit is powered by a 365 HP. Duramax Diesel with a Allison transmission. This unit is scheduled for painting this week. The Committee is in the process of completing the specification for the skid unit for the bidding process to begin. Committee Members are F. Kinnamon, B. Faust, R. Nicholson Jr., R. Nicholson III, C. Stant, B. Clough, and D. Reece. The target date for placing this unit in-service is September.
 

RIT Training

June 9: The last of the 3 RIT training classes were held today at a house located outside Sudlersville. Crews of 4 rotated through 3 different scenarios. May Day crew( Firefighter Trapped), Search and Rescue , and RIT crew. Companies attending today's training were Sudlersville, Church Hill, Crumpton , and Paramedic 600 with a total staffing of approximately 30 Fire and EMS Personnel.

EMS Stand-by

June 9: Paramedic 60 left the RIT training for a EMS stand-by at the Sudlersville Skeet Club where the Maryland Department of Natural resources held it's  2007 Junior Hunter's Field Day. Approximately 130 people attended this event and rotated to different educational stations throughout the day. Some of the stations were Wild life Management, Training Retrievers, DNR Bird Banding, Raccoon Hunting, Ducks Unlimited, and Maryland Turkey Federation. Participants also learned how to shoot skeet, and use a compound bow to shoot at targets. Paramedic 60 operated  for 6 hours with a staffing of 2 personnel no reported injuries

Honorary Member Steve Cox Promoted

June 11: It is with great pleasure that the officers and members of the Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company announce the recent selection of Honorary Member and Past President of MSFA Mr. Steve Cox to the position of Fire Chief for the Navy-Atlantic Region Fire Emergency Service.

Steve Please accept our best wishes for your success in your new position.


Past Chief Faust Activated
June 13: For over 20 years Past Chief Malcolm Faust has served his country in the Army National Guard. Over the years he has been  activated several times to serve his country. Past Chief Faust is currently stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. Past Chief Faust will be at Fort Dix for several weeks preparing for deployment overseas later this year.

Our thoughts and prayers are with Mally and his family.

New EMT-B's For SVFC

  June 20: Congratulations to Gail Boles and Monica Kennedy for successfully completing EMT-B training. Look for them coming to a call near you.
June 30th Texas Hold'em Tournament

*Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament Canceled*

June 20: The Texas Hold'em Poker Tournament scheduled for June 30, 2007 is canceled due to a scheduling mistake by Go All In.  SVFC Poker Tournament Chairman Mike Faust is working to rescheduling this event sometime in July.


Queen Anne's County MSFA Tags

June 24: Over the last few weeks I have received calls from fire and EMS personnel in Queen Anne's County about getting MSFA Tags. Every Fire and EMS Company President should have appointed a company representative and notified the QA County MSFA tag Coordinator and passed on contact information. The current list (3 or 4 years old) of company representative.

Station 1: Don Lewis, Station 2: No one, Station 3: JC Lewis, Station 4: No one, Station 5: Chris Coursey, Station 6 and MSFA County Coordinator : Kurt Wise, Station 7: Charles Skinner, Station 8: Another County Coordinator handles, Station 9: John Bossert, Station 20: No One

Every company in Queen Anne's County Currently has at least 2 or more members with MSFA tags.

Working House Fire in the 5-8  Box

June 28: 00:02 hours Chief 6, Quint 6, Engine 64, and Tanker 6 were dispatched to the 5-8 box to assist Church Hill Volunteer Fire Company on a working house fire. Chief 6 (F. Kinnamon) was assigned water supply officer by command (S. Hurlock). Quint 6 arrived and set-up a rehab area and later were instructed to set-up and place the master stream in-service. Units operated on scene for 3hours and 20 min. with 16 personnel. Other companies on the call included QA Sta 7, from Kent Co Maryland Sta. 6 ,2 , and 3


Rescue Box 6-10

June 29: At 19:03 hours station 6 was alerted for a MVC with roll over on Route 300 in the area of Rosebud Lane. Chief 6 arrived to find 1 vehicle off the roadway with all occupants out of the vehicle, officer 601 (F. Kinnamon) assumed command. Command held the box to R-6, C-6, AMB 60, and PM 600. AMB 60 obtained the pt. refusal. Units operated on scene for 20 min. with 24 personnel.

 
New Date For Texas Hold'em Tournament

June 30: The Sudlersville Volunteer Fire Company in cooperation with Go All In is pleased to announce that we have rescheduled our Texas Hold'em Tournament for Sat July 28th. Doors will open at 5:30 PM, With the tournament starting at 7:00 PM sharp. Buy-in is $150.00. Payout based on the number of players participating. Side tables will also be available


SVFC assists with Haz-Mat Box 2-18
June 30: Station 6 was alerted for the North County ERT trailer to assist Grasonville VFC with a fuel spill on the water at the Hilton Garden Inn. Utility 6 transport the ERT trailer with a staffing of 3 personnel and assisted with containment of the spill.
